Here's a poem written by a character of mine...

I remember
the smooth, soft, warm flesh
sliding down my throat
when I ate your heart last night

You brought it to me on a silver platter
How could you tempt me with something
like that and not expect me to devour it

I held it in my hands
was it my imagination or was it still pulsing
blood ran down my arms
drawing rivers across my skin

I licked up each drop
my clever tongue tasting
the tangy metallic flavor.

A piece of your heart
a fiber, got stuck in my teeth
I pulled it loose with my finger nail
didn’t want it to be caught there forever.

I am full now, sated.
But I think I got the better end of the deal
You stand there now, a hole in your breast.
