frustration
Oct. 17th, 2002 11:47 amThe test went ok but was a little more confusing than I expected. One thing that irritated me was that they insisted that we use calculators that dont have memory. So that you can't cheat. So I went to considerable effort to borrow a normal one from my office mate and they dont seem to notice that half the class is using graphing calculators. This makes me mad because I normally use an HP. This means I am used to using inverse polish stack notation. For those who don't know what that is I will explain briefly:
In IPSN if you want to say add 3 and four you do the following:
3
4
+
as you can see when you are used to this it is hard to switch. It meant that I had to triple check all my calculations to make sure I didn't goof.
I love IPSN and wish that they taught the principles behind it to kids. I firmly believe that learning it has made me a better mathematician. We can discuss this later at length if anyone is interested.
Back to frustrations. Yesterday I turned my cookies off so I could see what the prices are at Club med for people from different countries. I forgot to turn them back on. Because of this I could not get into the website for my class and could not download the exam review notes. Which may have been helpful. Only they didnt tell me that I needed my cookies turned on. I would put in my login stuff and the login screen would show up again.
ARGGGGHHHHH!!!!! Warn people that they need cookies for your page please.
Oh and here is a tip that many of you probably already know... if you order something from amazon with your cookies off and without registerding it thinks you are a new customer and will probably give you a better deal.
