So why didnt any of y'all tell me about this. It is absolutely hilarious.

Apparently some of the new cds with copy protection (those from sony) will break macs. Break them so that you have to take them into the shop.

I know its mean of me to laugh but it is funny. I first heard about the weirdness of the new copy protection this weekend from a friend of mine. We all thought it was strange that these companies would decide to protect cds in such a way that people can't listen to them on the computer or in some car stereos and dvd players. Then I looked online about it. I guess us PC users have very little to bitch about since it does not destroy our computers.

I don't know if these cds are still on the shelves but if I owned a mac I would read up on it. Trust me there is lots about it online.

Oh, I'm all kinds of familiar. If this is a manuever to get me to buy more CDs, it's failing miserably. Anything I can't play on my computer or rip to my MP3 player is useless to me.

I do know there is also a law suit against the companys doing this because of "Fair Use" law and the copy protection violating it.

Right, also forgot about the owner of the CD copyright not allowing those who use this form of protecton use the CD name
