I stand by my morning comment of go to work. It's a committment you agreed to earlier and shouldn't be shrugged off just because of a poor night's sleep. Perhaps my opinion is biased as I sleep like a rock the majority of the time or force myself to become caffeinated enough to function if I haven't slept well. Not to mention that I have the immune system of steel (I can't recall the last time I stayed home from anything b/c I was honestly sick. I claimed to be sick when I stayed home from work half a day post liposuction last winter, but that's different. I wasn't sick. I was grossly "injured" and had been told I would be in immense pain and should stay home. But it wasn't so bad so I came to work anyway.) I just don't think it is a smart move on your part to come in late and then probably leave early to go to your concert, especially since you're not on the greatest terms with your advisor. I wouldn't do anything that he could later use as evidence against you. Showing up late to the office definitely would fall into that category... Just my opinion, of course, you can and will do as you please.
