INSOMNIA

wracked with exhaustion
tears spill
making rivers out of folds
nightdress hangs
its slight weight dragging down
would that it could drown

closed eyes
blackness imprinted with bright flashes
glaring garish glows
unrelenting assaults
no release
no succor
just pounding

dragging upwards
stumbling pushing against gravity
open eyes blearly scanning
no energy
no joy
just pounding propelling motion

wrecked completely
shaking from invisible blows
quivering and alone
tumbling down faster and faster
despair deadens dreams

amber glowing crystal
burning down
raw tracks
numbness waves splash
flesh collapses gasping dies
stillness presses down surrounds
darkness trickles in
